Quick and easy projects...
Dear Leather crafters, Some of you have already been in the trade for decades, some for a few days and some other are still considering to get started at leather craft. The projects below are perfect whether you are willing to work on something quick and easy to make or whether you are just a beginner. We have worked on two projects that are not requiring big amounts of leather or a lot of stitching... Actually one of the two projects does not even require any stitching capabilities. If you haven't practiced leather working a lot or simply need something quick...
How it is made - Strap wallet
This type of closure is great when you don't want to use any hardware or you simply don't have any in stock. After all it works perfectly and it is practical to use. This wallet might take more time to make than most other simple wallets I have uploaded the patterns for but isn't much harder to craft. There is a bit more hand stitching involved and you will need a zipper, preferably with 3mm teeth rather than 5mm. I did not have any bottom nor top metal stoppers for the zipper so I had to replace them by leather bits,...
The making of an indispensable...
The bi-fold wallet is probably the most common type wallet for men, I bet pretty every men already owned at least one (if not dozens) like this one in their life. It fits in the back pocket of a trouser (this one is only 75mm high) and can carry everything you need without having to bring with you a bag. Don't take me wrong I love carrying a bag with me, but most guys don't like much to carry bags with them all the time and I understand why... I have already uploaded in the past a pattern on the website, but felt the necessity to make...
Quality remains after price is forgotten!
Back to basics What does it takes to make a great product? Some nice uncoloured veg tanned leather, a beautiful linen thread, a simple but elegant design, without forgetting the indispensable love and know-how every true craftsmen put into his work… That’s it: less is more Get these things and you’ve got it all to produce a timeless piece of craft that you will proudly carry around for many years and even be able to pass down from generation to generation. I intentionally choose natural veg tanned leather with nothing on top, no paint, no PU coating or God...
Which tools do I need for leather work?
In this video I am showing which tools are good to purchase to get started, there are not so many, but this is more or less the only tools I am using on a daily basis, I should add a stitching clamp and some saddler needles, but really, if you've got this kind of tool kit you can't really find the excuse of not having enough tools to work properly. Too many people love to collect an absurd number of tools but it seems like the more they store in their cupboards the less they really produce any leather goods. The same occurs with any...
